Our Waco UPF-7 was discovered in fine condition—albeit completely dismantled—in a garage storage unit in Florida. Fully restored, the aircraft offers up one the lightweight, lovely biplanes that fueled the Golden Age of Flight between the two World Wars, when barnstorming pilots drew crowds and romanced people into taking perhaps their first flight. The UPF-7, which rolled out in 1939, represents one of the last of more than 80 models produced by the highly successful Waco Aircraft Company. While designed as a commercial aircraft, most of the 500+ UPF-7s produced saw a quiet form of active duty. During 1941–1953, our plane prepared young men for Air Force service through the Civilian Pilot Training Program.
